IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR

VENDORS OF STORE CATTLE

Cattle being moved to Scotland

Pre-movement comparative tuberculin testing will be required for these cattle over 42 days of age, moving from the lower incidence areas of England.  The second test will have to be done in the low incidence area, no more than 60 days before movement and no less than 60 days after any previous test.
However, pre and post movement testing will not be required for cattle which can be shown to have spent their whole lives in low incidence areas (three and four yearly testing parishes) at the time of their movement to Scotland.  Farmers with cattle born and raised exclusively on a holding or origin in almost all parts of the most northerly counties of England, for example, (as well as all the orther 3 and 4 yearly testing areas of England) should find it relatively easy to take advantage of this derogation, as should most cross-border holdings.

WEDNESDAY 3rd MARCH
FORWARD 533 STORE & BREEDING CATTLE
COMP: 235 Young Bulls
283 Bullocks & Heifers
15 Breeding Cattle

Feeding Bulls were again forward in plentiful numbers and trade for these still looks in front of current finished levels. Strong stores a touch easier as the prime trade stutters, but young cattle for grazing are very keenly sought by a huge ringside of purchasers, this trade will take some matching anywhere. A few more breeding cattle on offer, but mainly older outwintered cattle which when calved will probably look value for money.
